Polonnaruwa district cluster clinic (Medirigiriya Cluster) was held on 03rd of September 2019 at Hotel Golden Flower, Hingurakgoda under the Chairmanship of Dr. Palitha Bandara (Provincial Director of Health Services, North Central Province) and Dr. D.S.A. Jayasinghe (Regional Director of Health Services, Pollonnaruwa). Dr. Anil Dissanayake (Project Director, Health System Enhancement Project (HSEP)), Dr. Kumari Navaratne (ADB Consultant), Dr. Sisisra Liyanage (Deputy Project Director, (HSEP)) and PIU staff of North Central Province also participated the cluster clinic.
Dr. D.S.A. Jayasinghe started the session lead a presentation of prepared Medirigiya cluster plan. Afterwards there was a discussion by Dr. Kumari Navaratne with the inputs of Dr. Anil Dissanayake observing the draft proposal of Medirigiya cluster. The following areas addressed in the discussion. Proposed activities/services that will be piloted by the clusters, finalizing the results indicators and the targets that team will agree to achieve in the cluster, cluster implementation related reforms, authorizations required for introducing reforms in the cluster, identification of gap analysis, HRH analysis, service assessments required, listing of job descriptions, operating procedures that are required to be developed, and updating the cluster action plan developed by the cluster teams.
Primary Healthcare Innovation Fund and the prescribed form to apply for the financial assistance was explained by Dr. Sisira Liyanage. A prepared PHC fund proposal was submitted for discussion. The cluster team was appreciated to have a solid plan inclusive of supervision and management components with the cluster structure explaining each role of the cluster committee member.
