The newly installed state-of-the-art 128-slice CT scanner in the Neurosurgery Department at the Colombo National Hospital started functioning recently in the presence of Health Secretary Dr. Palitha Mahipala. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) donated this CT scan machine, worth Rs. 220 million, through the Health System Enhancement Project. This state-of-the-art CT scanner offers high diagnostic accuracy and efficiency while minimizing patient discomfort and radiation exposure.
The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Director General for South Asia Region, Mr. Kenichi Yokoyama visited the Molecular Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Laboratory established in June 2020 with the assistance of the ADB grant funding Health System Enhancement Project (HSEP) to strengthen Sri Lanka’s health response against COVID-19 at Colombo East Base Hospital (CEBH) Mulleriyawa on 02nd October 2021.
Among the priority areas of Health System Enhancement Project (HSEP), increase utilization of Primary Health Care Services, prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), provision of Essential Service Package (ESP), address nutritional issues, disability care with special attention to less privilege people, assuring gender equality and social safeguard, environmental preservation and control of emerging and reemerging communicable diseases have been identified.
