Health System Enhancement Project (HSEP) has organized a one-day training on Gender Awareness Program for the staff of the PMU and PIUs on 21st April 2021 at the Cinnamon Citadel Hotel Kandy under the guidance of the Project Director.
The objectives of the program were to sensitize the staff of the administrative structure of the HSEP on Gender and Gender mainstreaming as a crosscutting issue, in the implementation of the project through introduction to the following topics:
- Gender concepts
- Gender mainstreaming and gender budgeting
- Gender-based Violence and the health sector response
- Gender Responsive health care
General introduction to the training program was given by the Dr. Anil Dissanayake (Project Director, HSEP). Dr. Lakshmen Senanayake (Gender Specialist, HSEP) conducted the training program. Dr. Neththanjali Mapitigama (Program Director, Gender and Women’s Health) and Ms. Sriyani Perera (Independent Consultant Gender and Development) were also resource persons for technical session.
This training program was followed by a two-day residential training program for trainers of District Primary Health Staff at the same venue.
