Cluster Implementation Plan Finalization Workshop was held on 8th of October 2019 at Oak Ray Regency, Kandy. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva (Deputy Director General, Medical Services II MOHNIM), Dr. E.A. Fernando (Director, Planning MOHNIM) and Dr. Sisira Liyanage (Deputy Project Director, PMU HSEP).
Deputy Project Directors PIUs, Regional Directors of Health Services, Dr. Kumari Navaratne (ADB Consultant), Medical Superintendents of cluster Base Hospitals, Health staff, PIU Staff and PMU Staff participated in this workshop.
Theldeniya, Rikillagaskada, Dambulla, Medirigiriya, Thambuththegama, Karawanella, Kahawatte, Bibile and Welimda cluster representatives presented their cluster plan. After each presentation of cluster implementation plan, a discussion was held by the MOHNIM representatives, ADB consultant and Deputy Project Director, PMU. All 9 clusters have identified thematic areas they want to develop in the cluster hospitals. Nuwar Eliya has added 6 more PMCUs/DHs to their existing list of 10 Primary Care Institutions.
Internationally it is identified, by improved procedures to the health Care Services, government can offer cost effective, high quality health care services for their citizens. Depending on the results of the pilot project, the reform shared care cluster system can be introduced to the other areas of the country.
