Six State-of-the-Art Cath Labs Worth Rs. 1,188.8 Million Donated Under the Health System Enhancement Project

Six state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories (Cath Labs), valued at Rs. 1,188.8 million, have been provided under the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded Health System Enhancement Project to strengthen cardiac care services in Sri Lanka. The five new facilities have been established at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (three Cath Labs), the National Hospital Kandy, the Teaching Hospital Jaffna, and the Colombo South Teaching Hospital.

The Cath Labs will enhance access to advanced cardiac diagnosis and treatment, including coronary angiography, angioplasty, stent implantation, and emergency cardiac interventions. The investment will improve timely access to specialized cardiac care, reduce waiting times for critical procedures, and strengthen life-saving cardiovascular services for patients across the country, addressing the burden of non-communicable disease.
