Meegahakiula Divisional Hospital is located in the Meegahakiula Divisional Secretariat Division in the Badulla District of the Uva Province. This hospital serves about 10,250 people belonging to nine Grama Niladhari Divisions. Approximately 235 patients are treated daily in the outpatient department alone and its annual approximate value is 85738 (According to a 2020 data).
This hospital is situated in a least developed area of Sri Lanka. Therefore, the requirement to develop this hospital has been there for a long time. Accordingly, under Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded Health System Enhancement Project, this hospital is selected to be developed in the round 1 civil works to enhance primary health care services. The development of its Outpatient Department (OPD) unit commenced in late 2019.
The project has been completed with a cost of LKR 19.26 Million and is currently serving the people of the area with the completion of other essential facilities including the Medical Laboratory Unit and the Emergency Treatment Unit.
