Success Story of Galaha Divisional Hospital

           

Divisional Hospital Galaha is a rural hospital situated in the Kandy district, belonging to Deltota Divisional Secretariat.  This hospital servers about 15,000 people in Deltota. As outpatient services, Its conducts routine clinics, OPD consultations and emergency care services.  According to statistical data, around 130 patients visit the OPD on daily basis.

Previously, this hospital only had very limited space to occupy OPD and clinic patients.  However, under Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded Health System Enhancement Project, a new OPD building was built. This building is equipped with patients’ friendly facilities such as large waiting area, patient toilets with disable access and a dining area.

The staff of Divisional Hospital, Galaha plays immense role in providing comprehensive care at such a rural hospital must always be appreciated.  Thereby the new facility also contains staff dining rooms, rest room, wash rooms and new water supply.

With this expansion of rural hospital Galaha, as a Divisional Hospital, now hospital is able to provide better quality care to the community, thereby reducing the burden on tertiary care institutions such as National Hospital Kandy, Teaching Hospital Peradeniya, Teaching Hospital Gampola and District General Hospital Nawalpitiya.
