Handing Over Newly Constructed Primary Health Care Medical Institution (PMCI) Ambagaswewa in Polonnaruwa District has been Commissioned

In late nineties there was only one clinic centre in the Ambagaswewa area and no other institution was available to provide Primary Health Care services to  the population of the around. With the identification of this need to establish a Primary Health Care Institution in this area, Provincial Health Authorities established a Primary Health care Institution in Ambagaswewa in 1991.

By establishing a new MOH area in Medirigiriya in 2010, Primary Health Care delivery has been enhanced in a great manner for the population of 4200 people of two GN divisions.

According to the statistics of last two years following is the usage of facility;

 

With the objective of improvement of quality care services this institution has been developed by the Health System Enhancement Project with the financial assistant of Asian Development Bank for a cost of LKR 21.57 Mn, with this development the clients enjoy comfortable infrastructure with ample OPD space, ETU, Dental, Laboratory and Dispensary. 

The handing over of the developed PMCI Ambagaswewa to the Provincial Health Department has been taken placed on 24.02.2021 and the services are provided by a small staff comprises of one Medical Officer, one Dispenser and two Supporting staff members.
